Author
Herbert Steinberg, founder
of MESA - Corporate Governance, is a consultant in human development
and corporate governance. He is a counsellor of presidents
and members of the administration council. He is a founder
member of HPI Brasil, a company representing advanced tools
of comprehensive solutions for HR providers and attaining
exclusive rights on Dave Ulrich´s methodology in Brazil.
He coordinates the governance committee of the American Chamber
of Commerce in São Paulo. He was the vice-president
of Human Resources of the Santander Banespa group. He was
the corporative director of Human Resources of Citibank and
director of Human Resources of McDonald's. He has more than
26 years of experience in corporations, being 15 years as
a member of the board. He was a director-partner of DBM -
Drake Beam Morin of Brazil and led many processes of organizational
strategic planning, increasing the value of the area of human
resources in the management of enterprises.
He is a professor of Executive MBA of BSP - Business School
São Paulo, at the chairs of Human Capital & Leadership
Strategic Management. He is a business administrator with
post-graduation by the Escola de Administração
de Empresas de São Paulo of FGV and has many specialization
courses in Brazil and abroad in business, marketing and human
resources.
He wrote A Dimensão Humana da Governança
Corporativa - Pessoas criam as melhores e as piores práticas
(The Human Dimension of the Corporate Governance - People
outline the best and the worst practices), a book published
in 2003 by Editora Gente.
He dedicated 12 years for volunteer work in Vila Serena,
one institution with no profitable endings dedicated to the
treatment of chemical dependency. He carried on two mandates
as the president of the entity.
In 1999 he carried out his sabbatical period as a pilgrim
on the Way of Santiago, in Spain. The experience coincided
with a deep reflection about personal and professional life,
and motivated him to write two books: Sabático
- Um tempo para crescer (Sabbatical - A Time to Grow)
and Um Executivo no Caminho - Da razão ao coração
(An Executive on the Way - from Reason to Heart).
